[ translate ]

\Artist: Anonimo del XIX sec. già attribuito a F. Hayez
Technique: Oil on canvas\Signature: Not signed\Dimensions: 58. 7_44. 6_3_cm
Anonymous of the nineteenth century, formerly attributed to Francesco Hayez, Portrait of a Girl, oil on canvas, size: 58. 7 x 44. 6 cm. This delicate portrait of a young woman dates back to the mid-19th century, in the Lombardy area. The work is not signed. On the back there is an old cartouche, probably dating back to the first half of the 20th century, which reads “Francesco Hayez - Ritratto - collezione Crespi - prov. Melzi D'Eril". The cartouche therefore attributes the work to Francesco Hayez: this attribution is an interesting fact related to the history of the painting but it cannot be considered valid today without verification by contemporary scholars. For this reason, since the work is not signed, we consider it fair to present it as the work of an anonymous master of the nineteenth century, follower of Francesco Hayez (this is the wording that appears in the certificate of lawful origin) . The cartouche is also very interesting because it attests to the presence of the work in this "collezione Crespi", to be identified in all likelihood with a well-known collection in Milan belonging to the eponymous family. The cartouche also refers to the previous ownership of Melzi D'Eril, another noble and famous Lombard house owner of numerous mansions, villas and castles with important art collections, partly scattered and placed on the market during the 1900s. From a historical-critical point of view, the style and delicacy of the work, in addition to the choice of subject and pose, clearly refer to the school of Francesco Hayez, and in particular to that romantic portraiture that Hayez has made famous all over the world. The quality of the painting is truly very high, the result of the hand of a first-rate painter. In perfect condition. However, it should be noted that there is a restoration: we have carried an ultraviolet fluorescence test that shows that the work has undergone a professional restoration in recent years, a fairly important restoration in the bottom part, on the chest of the character, less on the face. In addition, the work has been lined on the back. The stretcher is probably original, in any case it is a stretcher that dates back at least to the beginning of the 1900s and on which is glued the original cartouche of the Crespi collection. With certificate of authenticity and lawful origin. The work will be shipped via express courier within 24/48 hours with insurance. Please note that in case of sale abroad, the item can be shipped only after obtaining the authorisation for export from the Ministry of Cultural Heritage (Certificate of free circulation of fine arts) . This usually takes about 20 days. At the moment, due to restrictions to contain the Covid 19 epidemic, waiting times may be longer. The costs for shipments abroad include the cost of documents for Fine Art export and any customs procedures. Customers who wish to receive a registered invoice are reminded to provide their fiscal coder for the issuance of the electronic invoice by sending a message immediately after payment.
