Description: The blue veil of this lady is reminiscent of the classic colour of the Virgin Mary's cloak in art history. Blue is understood both as the colour of heaven and the purity of the Virgin, as well as a very precious and valuable dye in production. Not least of all, Raphael's Madonnas have influenced our perception of colour in the combination of intensely blue and red vestment fabric in painting to identify with the Mother of Christ.
