'Nevada Fall, Yosemite National Park, Cal.'

gelatin silver print, mounted, signed in pencil on the mount, the photographer's Carmel studio stamp (BMFA I), with title and date in ink, on the reverse, framed, a Susan Spiritus Gallery, Newport Beach, label on the reverse
image: 19 by 14 in. (48.3 by 35.6 cm.)
frame: 28½ by 22½ in. (72.4 by 57.2 cm.)
Executed circa 1947, printed in 1977.

Condition Report:
Please note the colors and shades in the online catalogue illustration may vary depending on screen settings.

This print is in generally excellent condition. Visible under raking light are occasional deposits of the photographer's original retouching. There are a few superficial scratches including two 1½-inch vertical scratches on either side of the waterfall, none of which appear to break the emulsion.

Karen Haas's and Rebecca Senf's book, 'Ansel Adams in the Lane Collection,' publishes the most comprehensive list to date of the studio stamps and labels Adams used throughout his career. Although the author's assessment of the use dates of Stamp I on the reverse of the mount are 1978 - 1984, this stamp has a print date of 1977 written in ink.
