A first generation Cuban-American artist, Anthony Goicolea received his BFA in painting and drawing from the University of Georgia and his MFA in Sculpture from the Pratt Institute. He now lives and works in Brooklyn.
In 2011, the North Carolina Museum of Art mounted an early-career survey of Goicolea's work, Alter Ego: A Decade of Work by Anthony Goicolea, which also traveled to the 21c Museum, Louisville and the Telfair Museums in Savannah, Georgia.
