Antique jewelry object group: ring Condition: very good condition Country of origin: Belgium Style: Fifties (of the twentieth century) Period: ca. 1950a) Material: 18K yellow gold Extra information: Emile Anthony & Wolfers Frères - Anthony is an old Antwerp jewellers house since 1822 and Wolfers an old Bruxelles jewellers house since 1812. On March 24, 1897 Emile Anthony and Robert Wolfers established ‘Emile Anthony & Wolfers frères’. This partnership lasted longer than all the other national, as well as international, partnerships entered into by Wolfers. The jeweller’s shop moved from Oudaan 20 to Meir 25 in Antwerp. To furnish this new showroom many of the art nouveau pieces designed by Philippe Wolfers for the stand at the International Exhibition of Brussels 1897 were reused. The jewellery designs which have been preserved show that ‘Emile Anthony & Wolfers frères’ created jewellery in distinct art nouveau and art deco styles. The works of art designed by Philippe Wolfers evolved to pure Art Deco. The Gioconda ensemble, shown at the World Fair of 1925 in Paris, crowned his life work. The partnership between Anthony and the Wolfers firm ended in 1952. The name of the company changed to Maison Anthony. (from: www. anthony. be) Diamond(s) : 16 brilliant cut diamonds with an estimated weight of ± 2. 40ct. (colour and clarity: H/J, vs/si) . - All diamond weights, color grades and clarity are approximate since the stones were not removed from their mounts to preserve the integrity of the setting. Precious stones: One natural ruby with a weight of 3. 40ct. Treatment: This ruby is NOT treated (see pictures for certificate) Origin: Our gemmologists have a different opinion about the origin. The colour is typical for Cambodia. However, the ruby has got inclusions that are both typical for a metamorphic origin as well as a magmatic origin, which can indicate an origin from Myanmar (Burma) or from Mozambique as well as from Thailand. Birthstones: Ruby is the birthstone (or month stone) for July and diamond for April. More background information on: Wolfers frères, Brand: Anthony & Wolfers Hallmarks: "750" indicating 18K gold and Anthony & Wolfers hallmark (see pictures for drawing of this master mark) - (more info on hallmarks) Dimensions: width of top of ring 2,34 cm (0,92 inch) Weight: 21,40 gram (13,76 dwt) Ring size Continental: 56 & 17¾ , Size US 7½ , Size UK: O½ Resizing: Free resizing, but because of the the way the ring is made, we cannot guarantee to make it on every size; so please ask in advance (only for extreme resizing we have to charge) .
