Anthropomorphic statuette Workshop of the Master of Essankro Baoulé culture, Ivory Coast Circa 1880 Wood Height: 43 cm - Length: 7. 5 cm - Thickness: 8 cm (old longitudinal crack) Female statuette standing with individualised legs and feet resting on a stepped circular base. Its knees are bent, its buttocks individualised and particularly rounded. Its hands rest on its abdomen, on either side of its umbilicus. Its belly, bust, neck and temples are marked with geometric scarification. Its face, with a tapered chin, has coffee bean-shaped dot eyes, a mouth with individualised lips, crescent-shaped eyebrows and small C-shaped ears. Its hairstyle is organised in seven finely incised plaits.
