Painted Cremonese ceiling panel, the panel is from the 17th century, the painting is later, not contemporary.

Tiles of this type are exhibited at the Ala Ponzone Civic Museum in Cremona and at the Crema Civic Museum.

Very rare and precious object, ideal for collectors who love the high era. The panel comes from a ceiling in the Lombardy area (Cremona) . Gothic-type painting with conservative restorations. The panel has undergone repainting and restoration over time since the 17th century. Being an object from a high period, it shows evident signs of aging which make it a fundamental and fascinating feature.

Initially between the 15th and 16th centuries, especially in Lombardy and Piedmont, in noble homes and public buildings it became a fashionable custom to decorate the ceilings with painted wooden panels: the 'ceiling tablets' or 'tiles', which were arranged inclined along the beams, alternating with the shelves and joists that supported the ceilings. Crema and Cremona are the centers where production established itself with particular vigor and refinement. The small painted panels depicted geometric and floral motifs, emblems, coats of arms, real or fantastic animals, cherubs with musical instruments, signs of the zodiac, biblical or literary scenes, historical and ancient mythological characters, allegorical figures and crafts.
