Antico Romano - red Levanto marble Sphere - 230×140×140 mm - 5.37 kg

Sphere with pedestal made of ancient Red Levanto marble. This marble variety was used in the time of the ancient Romans for the creation of statues and furnishing elements, but some finds testify that it was highly appreciated already in Byzantine times. The base is a red-bottomed ophicalcite with dense white veins of calcite that give it a unique design. A small inclusion of serpentine helps to make this specimen even rarer. The sphere is resting on a handmade pedestal, also Red Levanto marble, which allows to display the entire composition. For collectors or as an elegant home decor piece.
