Jh., unsigniert, Bronze dunkel patiniert, Aktdarstellung des Gottes Dionysos mit passenden Attributen, wie dem über die Schulter geworfenem Ziegenfell (Nebris) und mit Rebensprossen bekränztem Haupt, an den Füßen reich verzierte, geschnürte Sandalen, die Haltung lässt sich mit dem rechts zu ergänzenden Panther erklären, welcher das wichtigste Begleittier des Dionysos darstellt, der Name "Narziss von Pompeji" leitet sich aus dem Irrglauben ab, der Jüngling mit dem gesenkten Kopf würde sein Spiegelbild im Wasser betrachten, die in Pompeji gefundene flavische Originalskulptur, die nach hellenistischem Vorbild geschaffen wurde, befindet sich im Museo Archeologico Nazionale in Neapel, auf flacher quadratischer Plinthe, auf Marmorsockel montiert, partiell berieben, Finger verbogen, H Bronze 35,5 cm, H gesamt 42 cm. 19th cent, unsigned, dark patinated bronze, nude depiction of the god Dionysus with matching attributes, such as the goatskin (nebris) thrown over his shoulder and his head crowned with vine shoots, richly decorated, laced sandals on his feet, the pose can be explained by the panther to be added on the right, which represents the most important companion animal of Dionysus, the name "Narcissus of Pompeii" derives from the mistaken belief that the youth with the lowered head was looking at his reflection in the water, the original Flavian sculpture found in Pompeii, modelled on a Hellenistic model, is in the Museo Archeologico Nazionale in Naples, on a flat square plinth, mounted on a marble base, partially rubbed, fingers bent, bronze h 35.5 cm, total h 42 cm.
