Antique 1809 Western New York Map Engraved by Richard H. Pease FRAMED
famous historical document engraved by Richard H. Pease and originally compiled by Thomas Cooper. Though it depicts the geographic layout and regional infrastructure of Upstate New York as it existed in 1809, the lithographed map itself was actually printed later, around 1849, in Albany, New York. The primary focus of the map is detailing early transportation corridors. It illustrates vital historic routes such as the Lake Erie Turnpike Road and the Great Bend and Bath Turnpike. The map encompasses the western third of New York State, heavily featuring Lake Ontario, the eastern portion of Lake Erie, and the Niagara region. Compiled by Thomas Cooper, the map served to document early settlement patterns, land divisions (like the Genesee Lands), and the expansion of transit before the boom of the Erie Canal. Please ask specific questions on details, condition, and shipping prior to bidding, ALL ITEMS ARE SOLD AS IS, and the bidder will be responsible for payment.
