19th century 1890 Gerbing & Stephan Majolica Vase Urn The vase of baluster form with twin ornate acanthus handles rising from the shoulder; the whole resting on a single pedestal foot Superbly decorated with a continuous battle scene set in relief and depicting a horseman charging infantry then being brought down and killed The underside rim and foot with bands of acanthus scrolls interspersed with gothic masks Meduza Medusa Bearing impressed Gerbing & Stephan script mark Together with various impressed marks and shape or pattern number ‘4036’ Dating to 1890 17.3in H 5in wide rim 9.8in wide handles and weighs 9.25 pounds Slight deterioration from over the years although the item remains to be in great condition please look at photos closely nouveau deco art out of a New York City Estate
