Antique 19th Century Mens Embroidered Evening Waistcoat. This sumptuous antique 19th century ivory silk satin evening waistcoat features expertly applied embroidery on the collar, pockets, and front in a mix of flower and leaf motifs. As well as 6 handmade buttons wrapped in narrow ivory silk tape and applied in a swirling pattern, 3 pockets (2 standard pockets and 1 ticket pocket). The interior front panels are backed with a thin cotton and edged in a very fine embossed kidskin leather. There is a handwritten name tag sewn in with the name Chr. Chris Henderson. Laying flat the waistcoat measures as follows: chest 22.5'', length 22''. We believe that the front of the waistcoat is 19th century and the sides and back were added at a later date in the 20th century. The Waistcoat is in fair condition with the front having multiple threadbare areas, shattering beginning to occur at the arm holes, bottom edge, and collar. The more modern back and sides are in good condition. If you have any doubt, please ask questions!
