Africa, Ethiopia, Kambatta (or Kambetta) people, ca. early 20th century CE. Hand-carved from a single piece of wood and handsomely decorated with silvered copper beads, a very rare headrest from the Kambatta people of Ethiopia. An impressive example, with beautifully carved wood presenting lovely incised decorative motifs and lustrous patina as well as an elegant use of festoons and strands of silvered copper beads. Size: 7.5" W x 7.25" H (19 cm x 18.4 cm)
