Antique Bronze Candle Holder Putto on Dolphin 1890-1920
Antique bronze candle holder, Baroque style putto on a dolphin, c. late 19th- early 20th Century. This solid heavy bronze figurine is an antique outdoor lamp, it can also function as a candle holder-- an interesting home decoration.
Bronzes are alloys of copper and tin whilst brasses are alloys of copper and zinc. Bronze generally has a higher fatigue resistance than brass, and is usually more expensive than brass, partly due to the processes required to manufacture bronze. Bronze and brass are also quite different not only in their makeup but also in appearance: brass is muted yellow, somewhat similar to gold, but duller, the bronze is reddish brown.
