Antique "Burning of Barnum's Museum" Oil (ca. 1865)

A 19th century oil on board-mounted canvas entitled "Burning of Barnum's Museum," painted by an unknown artist after the original 1865 work by Christopher Pearse Cranch (American, 1813-1892). A note to the reverse and the frame's plaque indicate the date of this painting to be 1865 as well. Measures 22" x 26", housed in a frame that measures 27 3/4" x 31 3/4".

Condition Report: The surface of the painting is covered by a heavy coat of grime. There is a scuff to the paint in the top left sky area. Some small paint flakes spread across the left side of the composition.
