Antique California Spurs With Inlay Silver And Chased Iron Designs

Available here for your consideration is a pair of antique California style spurs with inlay silver on one side and chased iron designs on the other. These are very nicely mounted spurs, ending in 19 point handmade rowels. They are inlaid along the show side of the heel band with a finely etched silver design, while the inner heel band is decorated with nicely carved out interlinking ovals, and the pair comes complete with chap guards.
The history of bits and spurs in North America begins with the Spanish who first came to the new world in the 1500s, bringing horses and livestock with them. The Spanish colonial style is the predecessor of the Californian and Mexican styles we know today. These are a fine example of that heritage and are a nice example of antique spur making skills to add to your collection. Bid now!

APPROX AGE: Antique (meaning made prior to the 1930s).
SIZE: The heel openings measure 3 3/8 inches, the band width measures 1/2 inch and the shanks measure 3 1/8 inches long overall.
