Antique French Gold Coin Scale, Francois Antoine Jecker (French 1764-1834), Paris, c.1800, folding portable brass coin scale for measuring the weight of gold coins to determine if the coins had been 'shaved' or if they were authentic. In hinged wood case fitted with a table of gold coin weights for different European locations. Fitted for display on a wood stand base with plexiglass box cover.
Dimensions: Case 6.75 in. l. when closed.
Condition: Lacking counterweight for scale. Paper coin weight table torn and worn through areas of printed measures.
