Antique French Tantalus with Decanters and Cordials

circa 1875, manufacturer's label of Alphonse Giroux, post 1867 directorship of Ferdinand Duvinage, black lacquered classical form wood case with round malachite inlays, top mount with ormolu "JSC" monogram, hinged lid and side panels opening to a removable customized brass fitted interior, storing an original set of monogramed glass decanters with sterling liquor labels (4) and cordials (14) labels and etched with "JSC" monograms, includes key.

Alphonse Giroux et Cie was a Parisian manufacturer of luxury wares and furniture for aristocratic and bourgeois clientele from 1799-1885. The company is credited with the invention of the kaleidoscope in 1818, and was involved in the making of the first daguerreotypes in the late 1830s.

Condition Report: Some cracks to malachite and wood moldings, some shrinkage cracks and wear to wood case with later paint; one decanter with crack and loss to body; one later cordial without monogram; one later decanter stopper.
