Antique Imperial Russian Order of St George Sword. Measures approximately 38.5 inches in the sheath and 35.5 inches as the sword itself. This sword was presented to Hugo William Koehler (July 19, 1886 – June 17, 1941) and has remained in his family since, now being consigned by his direct descendent. Koehler worked in Russia for the State Department during its Civil War and later in Poland. The Russian Order of Saint George is the highest military decoration of the Russian Federation. It was originally established on November 26, 1769 as the highest military decoration of the Russian Empire by Empress Catherine the Great.
