Antique J & E Stevens Novelty Mechanical Metal Coin Bank
A circa 1873 novelty mechanical metal coin bank by J & E Stevens (Cromwell, Connecticut). This metal coin bank depicts a house with pierced windows and a hinged door. When the door opens a male figure holding a tray moves towards the opening. The piece is marked above the door “Novelty Bank” with patent dates on the back and retains approximately seventy percent of its original paint.
