Antique Japanese Bronze ShiShi Dog W/ J.E. Caldwell & Co Clock On Marble Base

DESCRIPTION: Antique J.E. Caldwell & Co. clock mounted within a housing crafted as a ball beneath the paw of a fierce komainu ("foo dog") sporting highly detailed fur throughout its body and making a growling expression from behind a raised paw. Clock hands are crafted as dragons and ball is highly detailed featuring an imperial chrysanthemum opposite the clock proper and low dragon reliefs around its circumference. Clock is marked on its dial "J.E. Caldwell & Co" and "Philadelphia"; movement is also marked with Caldwell logo, with an eagle surrounded by ""E.M. Correct Time", and with "Made in France". Housing is mounted on a green marble base atop four gilt feet.
