Antique North America West Indies Caribbean Map
An antique hand-colored copperplate engraving on rag paper map titled "Part of North America (West Indies)" by Malachy Postlethwayt (English, 1707-1767). This large map depicts Florida, the Bahamas, Porto Rico, the Dominican Republic, Jamaica, the Caribbean, and Cuba. It includes the top of South America and all of Mexico, with just a very small portion of the bottom of Texas. A color illustration engraving with Putti is situated at the lower left side, along with a note to the Subscribers. The bottom reads "For M Postlethwayt Dictionary of Trade & Commerce." Presented in a lacquered wood frame. Sight measures approximately 18" x 34". Accompanied with a COA on the verso from Joseph Rubini Antique Maps & Print Inc Miami Florida.
Dimensions: 26 X 42 X .5 in.
Condition: Good overall antique condition with average age toning, mild foxing in some areas, and showing evidence creasing from folding. Frame having slight storage wear to edges and corners. Estate fresh to the market.
