DESCRIPTION: Antique oil on canvas portrait painting fragment depicting a young woman. Apparently unsigned. Stamp in French at reverse of stretcher.
CIRCA: 19th century, possibly older
ORIGIN: European, possibly French
DIMENSIONS: (Sight) H: 22.75" W: 18.5" (Frame) H: 32" W: 24.75"
CONDITION: Relined. Originally part of a larger canvas/work. Canvas has two lengthy areas of wear (possibly repairs). Collar and earring added later. Inpainting to face and probably elsewhere. Canvas somewhat sunken into stretcher. Paint loss at lower left. Other, minor paint loss in spots. Moderate craquelure. Repair to frame at top. Losses and cracks to frame in spots.
