Antique Pistol: Benito Mussolini Association
Vincent Ottley was an African American war Maerked "C R C MILANO," 9 m.m., circa 1900; from Vincent Roi Ottley, African-American war correspondent during WWII. While on the trail of Benito Mussolini he retrieved this pistol from Mussolini's residence. Lore has it that it was used in a faux duel by Mussolini in the early 20th century, then descended through the family to the present. Top break with 8 in. barrel, marked "C.R.C. Milano" on the top of barrel. Barrell end was crimped so Ottley could return to the U.S. with it. Proof mark of Gardone Val Trompia T.P.N. for black powder, also marked 1938 (date of manufacture), 9 mm.
Condition: The muzzle crushed, otherwise in Good condition overall
