Description: This large bronze vessel has several carvings of Chinese mythical creatures. The two large high relief panels boast a longma and a phoenix. The longma is depicted as a Chinese dragon with a horse body, commonly associated with emperors and Imperial matters. While the phoenix symbolizes re-birth. The side designs are of Xiao, human headed monkeys and other imagery. Type of Piece:Bronze vessel with brass or bronze import stand with a warm gilt patina.

Measurements:Without base: Width: 17 inches; Depth: 18 inches; Height: 14 inches, with the base this piece is 18.5 inches tall.

Condition:This piece is in overall sound condition with some surface abrasions, patina and residue. When standing on any surface, including the base it does wobble a bit.

Hallmarks:The six character mark represents the Ming Dynasty, although we date this as Qing or earlier.

Provenance:From the collection of a prominent Texas professional (name withheld), who retired to the Florida Gulf Coast.
