Antique continental oil painting on wood panel depicting biblical theme of Jesus and the Samaritan woman at the well. German quote at bottom. No apparent artist signature. Presented in black wood frame with bronze #771 plaque at bottom center. Retains old label on verso with same number, along with strip of cloth affixed to left side of back panel. Provenance: This item originated from a distinguished auction event hosted by Sotheby's in October 1995, at the Neues Schloss (New Castle), Baden-Baden, Germany. It was a part of the royal collection belonging to Margrave Max von Baden (1933-2022), a prominent figure in European aristocracy and the first cousin of Prince Charles III. This auction showcased a selection of valuable items from his esteemed collection.

Dimensions: 36.75 X 20 X 1.5 in.

Condition: Good to fair overall antique condition, displaying average surface wear and patina, with visible evidence of craquelure. The frame exhibits mild storage wear to its edges and corners. Fresh to the market from an estate.
