Literature

The Acme hand-operated corn and bean planter is an early 20th-century agricultural tool—commonly patented around September 11, 1900, by the Acme (Potato) Implement Co. Measuring roughly 33 to 35 inches long, these wooden and cast-metal tools allowed farmers to drop seeds into the earth efficiently without bending down. Planted Drop: A manual lever squeeze or downward rocking motion opens internal segments or jaws, releasing a measured number of seeds into the hole before a spring snaps it shut

Provenance

CBMJ-2
