Included are 8 Gorham pieces, including 2 Lancaster pattern salt spoons, 1 Chantilly pattern lemon fork, 1 Imperial Chrysanthemum pattern berry fork, 1 Baronial pattern teaspoon, 1 Poppy pattern teaspoon, 1 dinner fork, likely from the Mythologique pattern, and 1 World's Columbian Exposition souvenir spoon (held May 1-October 30, 1893); 7 Dominick and Haff pieces, including 6 Trianon Pierced pattern demitasse spoons with gilt wash to bowls, and 1 teaspoon; 6 Whiting pieces, including 2 Lily pattern pieces including 1 teaspoon and 1 dessert/oval soup spoon, 1 Heraldic pattern teaspoon, 1 Empire pattern dinner fork, 1 Damascus pattern dessert/oval soup spoon, and 1 demitasse spoon with gilt wash to bowl; 5 Alvin pieces, including 4 Majestic pattern five o'clock teaspoons, and 1 Old Orange Blossom teaspoon; 3 Wallace pieces, including 2 Louvre pattern five o'clock teaspoons, and 1 Rose pattern teaspoon; 3 Reed and Barton pieces, including 2 La Perle pattern teaspoons, and 1 La Comtesse pattern sugar shell spoon; 2 Watson Floral Series No. 4 pattern teaspoons, including 1 violet and 1 poppy; 2 International La Rochelle pattern round bowl gumbo soup spoons; 2 Durgin pieces, including 1 Iris pattern dessert/oval soup spoon, and 1 Madame Royale oyster fork; 2 Mechanics teaspoons; 1 Manchester Washington pattern small serving fork; 1 Towle serving spoon with engraved gilt wash bowl; 1 George W. Shiebler and Company Flora pattern Pond Lily sugar shell spoon; 1 R. Blackinton and Company short handle olive spoon; 2 German salt spoons with decorative cherub handles; and 2 pieces by unknown makers, including 1 fruit spoon and 1 cheese server. All items marked "Sterling" or "925/1000". Most items monogrammed or inscribed. Items ranging in size from 2 1/8" to 7 3/4" L. Combined weight: 39.155 total troy ounces. Most items late 19th to early 20th century. Provenance: The collection of Gary Glesser of Loudon, Tennessee, by descent from his grandparents, Captain Hoyt and Rachel Holton of Toledo, Ohio. Hoyt Holton became, at age 17, the youngest captain of a Great Lakes Freighter. In the 1960s, Captain Holton participated in a 26-day Admiral Byrd Society trip replicating the explorer's famous transpolar expedition, during which he met the Pope and Soviet Premier Nikita Kruschev. Many items in the collection were brought back as souvenirs from that journey and other frequent voyages.
