Antique Tibetan Gilt Wood Seated Buddha

DESCRIPTION: Antique carved wood sculpture depicting a buddha - possibly Maitreya Buddha - donning a headdress around his topknot and seated in the benevolent posture on a bench while holding a horn of the bench with his right hand and making the teaching gesture with his left hand. Figure is decorated with red and black lacquer and features gilt accenting throughout.

CONDITION: Narrow crack present on verso of bench and hairline crack present at figure's left elbow; chip on verso of footstool; hole in footstool suggests possible missing component/decoration
