Antique c. 1900 German Handmade Transparent Swirl Latticinio Core Glass Marble 2"
These antique glass marbles were individually handcrafted in Germany, primarily by skilled glassblowers between 1850 and 1920. The Significance of 2": While Latticinio (or Latticino) core swirls are the most common type of antique German marble, they are typically found in standard sizes ranging from 9/16" to 11/16". The absolute maximum physical limit for a hand-sheared marble rod was just under 2.5 inches. A 2 inch specimen is an extreme rarity that commands significant collector value, as very few large "giant" shooters survived intact without severe damage. Latticinio Core: Derived from the Italian latticino (milk glass), the core features an inner "cage" or lattice network woven from dozens of incredibly fine glass threads. The core is usually a vibrant white or bright yellow. Outer Swirls: Surrounding the clear space outside the lattice core are suspended outer ribbons or strands of contrasting colors (often combinations of red, blue, green, and orange). Please ask specific questions on details, condition, and shipping prior to bidding, ALL ITEMS ARE SOLD AS IS, and the bidder will be responsible for payment. We box and ship what we can to keep costs low, and use USPS and UPS. Large items, extremely fragile, and high value items will be packed by UPS. Quotes available on request
