Antique c1800's Georgian Black Velvet and Silver Applique Coiffe Cap. This beautifully decorated ethnic Georgian coiffe cap features a black velvet over a canvas base and is heavily embellished in wide real silver lace, several types of silver gimp, thin silver butterflies and flowers on paper backings, embossed silver stampings of acorns, flowers , and various shapes all hand applied in floral scroll work motifs. Laying flat the cap measures 10'' across by 7'' high. It is in poor condition with significant losses to the silver embroidery and appliques but still a lovely reference piece If you have any doubt, please ask questions!
