Antique c1880 Victorian Childrens Coat. This stunning antique Victorian double breasted childrens coat features an outer shell of ivory grosgrain silk with handmade lace inserts on each sleeve and 3'' wide borders down the front of the coat. As well as soutache/Russian braid embroidery borders throughout in an alternating zig zag pattern, hand knotted silk fringe trim on the collar, tapered split cuffs, 2 large mother of pearl buttons in an etched grid pattern, and hook and eye closures down the front. The coat also has a hand quilted lining in thin ivory silk. The measurements laying flat are as follows: shoulders 10'', chest 14'', sleeves 12.5'', length 23''. There are a few conservation efforts that have been made to the piece including patches at both shoulders and 1 lace applique stitched on to cover a hole on the left side of the coat. It is in fair condition with splitting and shredding to the grosgrain shell, especially on the sleeves and lower portion of the coat and yellowing. As well as 1 black spot on the back of the coat.
