Was formerly used to grill the meat by the open fire.
After winding, it is driven by a counterweight .
This is a very early example, it was still made by a clockmaker.
The mechanism is made entirely in wrought iron with gears in bronze
The spit still works very well, but can only be used as decoration due to its great age.
