Antique, factory engraved Colt, SAA Revolver, SN 22834

[ translate ]

Antique, factory engraved Colt, SAA Revolver, SN 22834 with pearl grips. This is a six shot Revolver with nickel plated finish and two-piece pearl stocks. The accompanying Factory Letter confirms it was shipped as a .45 caliber, 4 3/4" barrel with blue finish and stocks not listed, factory engraved - yes, shipped to Shoverling, Daly & Gales in New York on September 17, 1883 in a one gun shipment. The serial number would indicate it being originally manufactured in 1876, however, it didn't ship until 1883 which explains the short barrel. The serial number matches on the frame, barrel, back strap, trigger guard, cylinder and hammer that is typical of early engraved SAAs. The two-line barrel address is faint and partly readable. There are no patent dates visible on the frame. The caliber marking is readable on the trigger guard bow. The revolver has been buffed and refinished long ago and retains a significant amount of that restored finish. The pearl grips are slightly oversized and are in excellent condition. The action will not hold on the loading notch of the hammer. The bore is good.
