Antique lace and embroidery: a velvet Panel, 19th century, most likely salvaged from a damaged reticule, finely embroidered with a spray of flowers and leaves, using fish scales, coiled metal threads, and tiny gold metal beads, approx. 7.5 inches or 19cm wide and 5 inches or 12.5cm high, together with a panel of purple grosgrain, with examples of gold thread embroidery, probably practise for a larger ecclesiastical work; very fine fragment of white work, probably the corner of a 19th century wedding handkerchief, a crown surmounting the armorials for two families and surrounded by flowers, to the left, a crescent and a bird feature, to the right, an eagle with outspread wings and a crown above, mounted in a circular modern frame: together with a fragment of cream woven silk, featuring the Royal Coat of Arms of England, featuring the motto of the Order of the Garter, "honi soit qui mal y pense" (may he be shamed who thinks badly of it), dating back to King Edward III, and also "Dieu et mon droit" (God and my right), the motto of the Monarch of the United Kingdom outside Scotland, also in a circular glazed frame; a small machine embroidery in shield shape, with initials PG, and a small panel of burgundy satin finely embroidered in silks, of a size suitable for a doll’s house bedcover, plus a Shire book relating to Chikan embroidery, by Sheila Paine (7) (Shipping category D)
