Bronze, gegossen, dunkel patiniert. Nach dem Modell von 1849 entstandene Bronze, welche sich auf das 12. Buch aus „Ovids Metamorphosen“ bezieht und formal Stellung nimmt zu Herkules und dem Kentauer von Giambologna (1529-1608) in Florenz. (†)

Anmerkung:
Barye war Sohn eines Goldschmieds und Mitglied der École des Beaux-Arts von 1818-1824. Er stellte 1827 erstmals im Pariser Salon aus und gewann dort 1831 eine Silbermedaille. (12200334) (13)

Bronze; cast with dark patina. Created after a model from 1849, which illustrates the 12th book of “Ovid’s Metamorphoses” and formally references to Giambologna’s Hercules and Centaur in Florence. (†)

Notes:
Barye was the son of a goldsmith and was a member of the École des Beaux-Arts from 1818-1824. He exhibited at the Paris Salon for the first time in 1827 and won the silver medal in 1831.
