Biography of the artist Antonio Garcia Morales was a great portrait painter and figurist of the first half of the 20th century, born in San Sebastian in 1910 and artistically trained in Barcelona, where he was brought from an early age. He completed his artistic studies at the Baixas Academy, and later at the Sant Jordi School of Fine Arts, which gave him a pension in 1936 to undertake a study trip to Spain. In 1934, the Barcelona Museum Board acquired a nude from him, destined for the Museum of Modern Art in Barcelona, which he had presented at the “Saló del Nu”, organised by the Círculo Artístico in 1933. In 1936, he held his first solo exhibition at the Sala Parés in Barcelona, in 1941 his second exhibition at the Sala Gaspar and his third in this same room in 1943. In the same year he was awarded a third medal at the National Exhibition of Madrid for his canvas "Pudor", the first work that he sent to the National Fine Arts and he was also awarded at the National Exhibition of 1944, with the acquisition of the work, and in 1945 he obtained his second medal. His painting "Escena Doméstica" was distinguished with the First Prize in the 1951 Sant Jordi Contest, organised by the Barcelona Provincial Council.
