1824 - 1898
Anvers. La flotte anglaise vient prendre les restes des soldats enterrés dans la citadelle

signed E. Boudin, dated Août 71 and inscribed Anvers (lower right)
oil on panel
34.1 by 59.1cm., 13⅜ by 23¼ in.
Framed: 44.5 by 69.9cm., 17½ by 27½ in.
Painted in August 1871.

Condition Report:
The panel is sound. There is a thick varnish through which the UV light cannot fully penetrate but UV inspection does reveal some intermittent lines and spots of retouching to parts of all four edges. There are some fine lines of craquelure in places. The panel is very slightly bowed, and there are some nicks to parts of the extreme edges and two fine vertical cracks (approx. 1.5cm in length) to the left part of the extreme upper edge. There are some tiny gold leaf remnants to parts of the extreme left edge. This work is in overall good condition.
