Apollo 9 Original 'Type 1' Photograph - Lunar Module 'Spider'
Original 'Type 1' vintage color glossy 10 x 8 red-numbered NASA photo (AS9-21-3212) showing the Apollo 9 Lunar Module 'Spider' in its lunar landing configuration in Earth orbit. Reverse bears “A Kodak Paper” watermarks. In fine condition.
Apollo 9 marked the first crewed flight of the Lunar Module and the first time the spacecraft was tested independently in space, making it a critical dress rehearsal for the Moon landing to come. This striking image shows 'Spider' in its true lunar-landing configuration—legs extended and ascent and descent stages joined—during the mission that proved the Lunar Module could maneuver, rendezvous, and dock in Earth orbit just four months before Apollo 11.
