Araca (Enzo Forlivesi Montanari) 1898–1989 Soave-Bertani vintage poster
Caption Brief: This Art Deco poster for Soave-Bertani, the white wine produced by Verona's historic Bertani winery, was created by Enzo Forlivesi Montanari, who worked under the pseudonym "Araca" for his Italian clients—he adopted the alias because contractual obligations with French printers, for whom he signed his own name, barred him from using it in Italy. The image shows a stylized man in red tipping the final drops from a green bottle of white wine, rendered in gray and black lettering typical of interwar commercial graphic design. Bertani, founded in 1857 by brothers Giovan Battista and Gaetano Bertani near Verona, built its international reputation on wines like Soave and Amarone, with its Soave label famously served at the 1937 coronation of King George VI of England.
