Borowski Studio

Studio Borowski was founded in 1990 by Stanisław Borowski, an artist and engraver who has been well-known for 30 years. His works are included in the collections of numerous museums, galleries, and private collections around the world.

In 1993, Studio Borowski was taken over by Stanisław’s sons, Paweł and Wiktor Borowski. They expanded Studio Borowski’s offerings to include their own designs: a collection of original glass accessories, a collection of illuminated objects made entirely of glass, and animal-shaped furniture.

These perfectly crafted glass objects are both captivating and unsettling. They captivate because they are unlike anything we have seen before. They unsettle because they defy our aesthetic habits and tastes...

The great artist and father passes on his passions to his sons. He reveals the secrets of glass and shares the knowledge he has gained through years of hard work at the glass furnace. Slowly, he is handing over his workshop to his sons…

This continuity of family tradition is what makes the Borowski Studio a global phenomenon. Stanisław Borowski has created a thriving family business. Unique, original, surprising, extraordinary, avant-garde, and beautiful glass. Glass made by Borowski!

Borowski Superstar! Join me for an encounter with glass that stirs emotions around the world.

Stanisław Borowski is one of the most famous glass artists in the world… not just in Poland. His entire family works with glass. It’s a shared family endeavor.

When I first saw the Borowskis’ work four years ago, I was intrigued and delighted by the whimsical nature of the animals and figures, as well as their extraordinary color palette.

Encounters with the Borowskis’ art are always accompanied by excitement and joy. I believe their creative work will continue for many years to come. Poland should be proud to have such artists.

Stanisław Borowski, born in 1944 in Moutiers, France, is, alongside Czesław Zuber, the most famous Polish glass artist in the world. His “sculptures” are found in the collections of many museums, galleries, and private collections.

In the 1960s, Borowski took a job at the glassworks in Krosno. He worked on mold-making, glassblowing, and in the grinding shop. He mastered all glassmaking techniques. In 1981, the German magazine “Neues Glass,” well-known among glass collectors worldwide, organized a competition for the 100 most interesting glassworks of the year. Borowski submitted black-and-white photographs of his work and made it into the prestigious top 100. Invited to an international glass exhibition in Kassel, he traveled to Germany and settled there permanently. He quickly gained international fame. He was invited to exhibit at the finest galleries, and his works were highly sought after by collectors worldwide.

In 1990, Stanisław Borowski founded Glasstudio Borowski in Hennef, near Bonn. In 1992, he moved the studio to Tomaszów Bolesławiecki, into old former German farm buildings that he had purchased a year earlier.

In 1993, Studio Borowski was taken over by his sons: Paweł and Wiktor Borowski. Paweł Borowski designs collections of original glass accessories and lighting fixtures, made entirely of glass, as well as furniture in the shape of animals; Wiktor handles promotion

and sales in Germany.

In 2007, the youngest of the brothers, Stanisław Jan—a graduate of the Department of Ceramics and Glass at the University of Koblenz, Germany—joined the studio.

The Borowski glassware is divided into three distinct collections: “Studio-Line,” produced in small batches; “Outdoor-Objects,” featuring sculptures and garden lamps; and the limited-edition and one-of-a-kind “Artist Edition.” The largest buyer of the “Studio-Line” collection is Rosenthal Studio-Haus in Germany.

Unique pieces from the “Master Works” series, created exclusively for exhibitions, are produced relatively rarely and generally find their way to the U.S. and Dutch markets. Stanisław Borowski creates works only for the Habatat Gallery and for highly prestigious exhibitions. These pieces fetch prices ranging from 30,000 to 70,000 euros. Works by Paweł and Stanisław Jan Borowski cost between 5,000 and 30,000 euros.

Objects from Studio Borowski are sold to galleries, design centers, and interior design stores in Europe and around the world, including Italy, the United Kingdom, Japan, the U.S., Mexico, the United Arab Emirates, India, New Zealand, and Morocco.

The Borowskis’ works are part of the collections of well-known politicians (including former U.S. President Jimmy Carter), industrialists, bankers, executives of major corporations, and artists (such as Whoopi Goldberg and Nicolas Cage) …

Each project by Studio Borowski is created individually by the artists and a small team using manual “hot” and “cold” processing techniques. Individual fragments of the works are engraved, sandblasted, cut, polished, or coated with color. Once assembled, they form a single, unique whole—an extraordinary glass object sought after and admired by glass collectors around the world…

Stanisław Borowski’s works draw on magical realism. They are perfectly polished and adorned with rich engraving. Characteristic of his work is a graphic yet painterly approach to his subjects, which are most often surreal, magical human figures.

The glass objects by Paweł and Stanisław Jan differ from their father’s sculptures in their more vivid colors and unusual, sometimes downright whimsical shapes. However, in each of these works, one can see their father’s “original guiding vision.” Both the method of achieving the characteristic color palette by blending pigments, the otherworldly creations of animal-like creatures, and the precision of execution immediately bring to mind the works of Stanisław Borowski
