Art Nouveau Bronze Country Store Doorbell 1930s-50s

Vintage bronze Art Nouveau country store doorbell in shape of a flower, c. early- mid 20th Century. Mounted to the door, this solid bronze bell would make a harmonic sound when the door is moved. Beautiful original patina buildup is due to its age.

Bronzes are alloys of copper and tin whilst brasses are alloys of copper and zinc. Bronze generally has a higher fatigue resistance than brass, and is usually more expensive than brass, partly due to the processes required to manufacture bronze. Bronze and brass are also quite different not only in their makeup but also in appearance: brass is muted yellow, somewhat similar to gold, but duller, the bronze is reddish brown.
