Arthur Hunt Chute was born in Illinois and grew up in Canada, graduated from Acadia and Newton Universities. In 1914, at the start of W.W.I, Chute enlisted with the Canadian Army and served as an officer with the Canadian Army Artillery in 1915 - 1917. He was discharged in 1917 due to a burst ear drum and shell shock and this book is the first-hand account of a man in the Canadian army during the war. his first-hand experience. As a journalist and author he traveled extensively in Egypt, Palestine, Asia Minor, and the Europe. He was killed in a plane crash over Lake Manitoba on 09.22.1929.
