This work was likely made for the 1904 St. Louis Exposition, the metal base designed and executed by one of two Japanese craftsmen hired by the company, R. Ito or S. Riosetts Fujiura.

Incised signature and date to underside 'AA Van Briggle 1904'.

Condition Report: Two opposing hairlines to rim, each approximately 1/2" and two breaks to metal decoration, the larger 3/8". Several very tight firing lines to base, most likely from application of metal.
