Ancient Near East, The Levant, Assyria, ca. mid-2nd millennium BCE. A hand-carved quartz amulet of an ovoid form with a suspension shaft drilled lengthwise through the body. The topside is unadorned while the bottom features an incised scene of a right-facing deer with a broad foliate form near its head and a six-pointed star above its hind quarters. Size: 0.75" L x 0.625" W (1.9 cm x 1.6 cm)
