\Artist: Athos Faccincani (1951)
Technique: Silkscreen / Serigraph\Signature: Hand signed
Artist: Athos Faccincani. Title: “Dove la luce fluttua nella bellezza”. Technique: serigraphy on rigid cardboard. Size: 80 x 60. Edition: XVII/L. Certified and framed work. Athos Faccincani was born in 1951 in Peschiera del Garda. He started to devote himself to drawing and painting since he was a child, but he was forced to do it secretly, in his cellar, because his mother was against it. After completing the secondary school, he enrolled in a commercial school to please his mother. In the afternoons, unbeknown to his parents, he started to hang out at the ateliers of Guidi, Seibezzi and Novati, where he learned painting techniques and, above all, he understood that art was a fundamental part of his life. After getting his diploma, he refused a bank job to devote himself to art full-time. The works of those youthful years had an expressionist style and portrayed dark and suffering characters. Athos Faccincani began to visit psychiatric hospitals and prisons to be able to better express the suffering and anguish of his characters. In the 1970s, he was commissioned an exhibition on the Italian Resistance, thanks to which he was appointed Knight of the Republic, an honour conferred to him by President Sandro Pertini who had visited his solo exhibitions. After this award, Athos Faccincani experienced a period of inner crisis and gave up painting for a year. In this period, he took care of his son Mattia and made several trips to southern Italy. When he decided to take up painting again, his style radically changed, also in subjects. In this new artistic phase, he preferred landscapes with a lush nature. He had an almost impressionist style and used bright colours. Each painting follows the same guidelines: the sun high in the sky, the light, and the simple story. It almost seems that Faccincani decided to fight the suffering of the world, typical of his early phase, through painting. Today, Athos Faccincani is a very successful artist. He exhibited in London, Paris, Vienna, Chicago, Madrid, Los Angeles, New York, Zurich, Monte Carlo, as well as in Italy. His works are displayed in the houses of Hollywood celebrities, and he won several awards. Athos Faccincani is certainly one of the few artists who can express the lush beauty of the Mediterranean coasts without tinging it with melancholy or sadness. In fact, Faccincani’s landscapes leave no room for nostalgia or regret for the places represented, because the bright and brilliant colours can completely satisfy the viewer, without making him want to be there.
