Natale ATTANASIO (Catania, 1845 - Rome, 1923) . He is considered one of the most famous portraitists of the 1800s. A pupil of Domenico Morelli, his works are kept in the most important Italian museums. For example, the frescoes in the reading room of the Senate of the Italian Republic are made by him. His works have become available almost exclusively in large international auctions, at very high prices. The work offered here is signed in full by the author and dated 1893 and is sold with its imposing frame of wood and plaster. The painting is in really good condition and the frame - despite being over 125 years old - has only some cracks and small shortcomings. I am in possession of proof of purchase of this item. Size: 115 x 95 cm. The canvas has similar dimensions and the oval of the painting visible on the outside is 70 cm x 55 cm. I am in possession of proof of purchase of the item from an antique shop in Catania.
