Attilio Piccirilli (1866-1945) First Step Bronze 1917

Bronze with brown patina; signed and stamped B. ZOPPO FOUNDRY N.Y.; approx. 9.5”H;

The First Step was designed in 1917, two years before Fiorello LaGuardia was married, and given to him as a wedding gift by the sculptor. Three casts were made for Mayor LaGuardia who presented them to friends as gifts.
