Attr. Louis Vuitton Antique Leather Steamer Trunk

Antique leather streamer trunk attributed to Louis Vuitton, France, late 19th century. Worn leather covered exterior, gold tone metal latch at front center, replaced metal latches at left and right. Interior covered in linen, pull out inset tray with fabric handles, quilted lid interior accented with magenta ribbon. Hand lettered 'CASE' on both left and right side panels. Interior label reads Louis Vuitton London 200 Oxford street crossed out with a black line, stamped 454, Strand, Paris 1 Rue Scribe 1, stamped serial No. 37446. Upper portion of center latch is lightly stamped BTE Strand 3TE S.C.D.G. PA EXT. lower portion of center latch is stamped Made in France 01353. No visible branding stamped on any of the tacks or leather pieces. All four square casters at underside are illegibly stamped. 23.25 x 31 x 23 inches.
Condition Report: Interior linen extensively stained, ripped, and separating. Magenta ribbons at lid disintegrating with pieces missing, interior tray missing dividers. Leather exterior with extensive repair work, leather split in some areas particularly at back. Several replacements and repairs throughout, including tacks and leather pieces.
