Attractive EJ Bebe.

[ translate ]

This very attractive 25-1/2" (65cm) Jumeau Bebe from the late 1880's is incised on the back of the head "DEPOSE E 12 J" and has large brown paperweight eyes, a closed mouth with heart-shaped painted lips, a deep dimple in chin, and separately applied ears with pierced ear lobes. Head is mounted to the original French wood and composition body with straight wrists and eight separate ball joints. The body is in relatively good condition with original patina, and typical slight wear in places, especially on the fingertips and tips of toes. On the back of the torso is a blue stamp reading "JUMEAU MEDAILLE D'OR PARIS". The doll has a fancy antique white cotton and lace dress. Pinned to the chest is a brass and enamel "BEBE" pin. The doll has a very nice blond mohair wig with bangs over a cardboard pate and has very nice antique pink ribbed cloth boots with brass buckles, black knit socks, and an antique fancy lace and silk ribbon bonnet. Although it does not affect the appearance of the doll, there is an old hairline starting at the left backside of the opening of the head just above the left ear and running horizontally to about the middle of the left cheek. At the front top of head there is a slight firing flaw, as if someone had put their hand on the forehead prior to firing, leaving a depression with unevenness, appearing to be at first glance a slight firing crack. Condition: (Very Good). Dimensions: 25" x 9" x 5".
